Jamestown - Scotland Ferry
Website: www.virginiadot.org

Feed the birds on the back of the boat!

A favorite of tourists, every single one of whom feels compelled to stand out front, arms outstretched ala Leonardo DiCaprio.

Non-tourists generally remain in their vehicles, do not restart them until their lane is given the signal to go, and know the Homeland Security drill (hint: don't argue, and shut your trunk yourself).

Please oh please do not take the scenic ferry during weekday rush hour! The queue may look small compared to the DC beltway, but it can be nearly as taxing for commuters.

Other than those precautions, this is a scenic way to get from one place to another, with views of Jamestown and surrounding areas. Great for birdwatchers, kids, and people with too much time on their hands!

Address:

James River
Williamsburg, VA
The ferry runs across the liquid stretch of 31, between the southernmost end of Jamestown Road in Williamsburg and the northernmost point of Rolfe Highway in Surry.
