One of the best sandwich shops in Williamsburg, and located in the heart of Merchant's Square, right next to the Colonial area.
The Cheese Shop is a sandwich place combined with a boutique food store. The sandwich counter is way in the back. You order at the left end of the counter, then hang around until they call your name. Pick up your sandwich at the right end of the counter, then bring it to the registers in the front to pay.
While you're waiting for your sandwich, shop around for other things to eat with it. There's also a counter at the side of the store with cold salads and cheeses.
If the place seems claustrophobic, keep in mind that its former location was about half the size.
The Cheese Shop gets horribly busy around lunchtime. It's best to show up early.

Located in Merchant's Square. You can't drive down Duke of Gloucester Street. It's pedestrian only. Instead, get close and park in the lots.
