Decent, but not outstanding, Thai restaurant provides another facet of Asian cuisine.
Emerald is new to Williamsburg. The food is tasty and the spicy dishes are actually spicy. (Getting spicy food can be a problem in Williamsburg, as most restaurants are aimed at tourists.)
The Phad Thai is basic, but very good. And the Panang Curry is particularly delicious.
On the other hand, some dishes suffer from filler vegetables. When you order a dish labeled as "Chicken, Garlic, and Basil," a third of it shouldn't be a mixture of bell peppers. You might expect that at a cheap Chinese food place, but Emerald isn't that cheap.
So, it's a good choice if you're on that side of town, but you might not want to go out of your way for it. It may improve as it gets to know its customers.
